On Thursday, January 9, 2025, the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department at our university welcomed international students admitted to various faculties as part of the “Study in Iraq” initiative. This program aims to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Iraq and other countries, positioning Iraq as a distinguished educational destination for international students.
A special reception committee was formed in coordination with the university’s presidency and faculties to receive the students. The committee was headed by the Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department, Assistant Lecturer Dr. Hawraa Jabbar Rahi, with direct coordination from the “Study in Iraq” Unit Coordinator, Assistant Translator Ammar Khalaf Zimam. Representatives from the university’s faculties accompanied the students from Baghdad International Airport to the university, providing them with essential guidance to facilitate their integration into campus life.
As part of the welcoming efforts, Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Ahmed Fakhr Al-Din, Head of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, welcomed a Sudanese student accepted into the faculty. He expressed his delight at the inclusion of international students and highlighted the importance of this step in fostering academic and cultural collaboration between countries.
Similarly, Assistant Lecturer Bilal Al-Zubaidi from the Faculty of Nursing welcomed another Sudanese student and emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting international students by offering all necessary services to ensure a smooth start to their academic journey.
In a related event, the “Study in Iraq” Unit Coordinator welcomed a Yemeni student on Friday, who had been accepted into the Faculty of Engineering. Additionally, Assistant Lecturer Humam Faleh Majeed from the same faculty received two more Sudanese students.
These efforts reflect the university’s commitment to providing a comprehensive educational environment for international students, aligning with its vision to position Iraq as a leading educational hub regionally and globally.
