The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the University of Karbala for its distinguished performance in implementing the “Study in Iraq” program, launched by the Ministry during the academic year 2023–2024.
The University of Karbala was selected among several Iraqi universities recognized for their excellence in executing the program, which is the first of its kind since 2003.
The honoring ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Ministry’s announcement of the third edition of the “Study in Iraq” program for the academic year 2025–2026, aimed at admitting international students to Iraqi universities.
Dr. Hawraa Jabbar Rahi, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the University of Karbala, stated that “the selection of the university was based on several key criteria, including the prompt completion of procedures related to the admission of international students, continuous follow-up of program requirements, strict adherence to ministerial instructions and deadlines, and sustained coordination with the Ministry.”
Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi also revealed an ambitious plan to provide more than sixteen thousand scholarships for international students, covering a wide range of academic disciplines and offering broader opportunities for scientific and cultural exchange.
